live.pirillo.com – It’s frustrating when you are using an old favorite browser, only to go to a web site that pops up a pretty little box telling you you cannot enter. The site has decided to block certain browsers that they feel are outdated from accessing their site. How unfair is that?

What I did was I downloaded Safari (greatest fastest web browser in the world!) from home installed it, and copied the Safari folder from “Program Files” and dragged them onto my USB flash drive. I then copied the Safari folder into the school’s “program Files” in every computer I went to. That’s how I bypassed the “no downloading programs” policy… I didn’t download it from their IP address… therefore did not break a rule lol

IE8 is actually pretty good, FF3.5 is better IMO.
I know multiple people who use IE6.

Mr. Pirillo, in my free time, I repair PCs for free for low-income people. You’d be surprised as to how many people are still stuck with old PCs with old OS on them. They are on dial-up and use their computers for e-mails, chat, and surfing a bit on Internet. They do not have the time nor the energy to get familiar with an OS like Linux. They have far more urgent priorities like desperately trying to make ends meet. If you’re unable to understand that and empathize with their plight, too bad.

I haven’t upgraded to Firefox 3 because I want to make sure all my plugins are updated first. When I last installed firefox 3, none of my plugins worked for it. Security fixes should be applied to both 2 and 3 at least for a while.

We just need Microsoft to do the great service of back-porting IE7 & when released IE8 to windows 2000 as a critical update. I’m not holding out much hope though

Also if work provides you with a computer then they will not let you upgrade to IE7 because they have not tested it sufficiently yet, like it will be a long time before businesses update to Vista. These things take time in a corporate environment.

They use IE 6 because it came with the XP installation and they don’t care about it being sucky. Kinda like me a long time ago… Then I upgraded to FireFox and now I’m a better man (or at least a less aggravated one)
